This Week’s Happiness Tip: Get Cultural!
Did you know that in recent studies, anxiety and depression relief has been linked to doing cultural activities? Visiting a museum, attending a play, or even joining a social or networking club can have a major impact on your overall life satisfaction. Whether you identify with the social aspect or enjoy just learning something new, trying a cultural activity can be a great way to not only ease back into outside life but also exercise your mind towards new and adventurous things!
The next time you start feeling a little anxious, stressed, or depressed, plan a day to do something cultural such as visit a museum in your city. You may even want to make it a friend or partner date. Have fun with it and explore things you may not normally explore. If you are still experiencing lockdown restrictions and can’t find an in-person activity, scan the internet for a few virtual tours and activities. Either way, pick something that might be outside of your norm and truly embrace the experience. You may unlock something new within yourself you may not have otherwise known was there.
This Week’s Happiness Tip: Maintain Your Connections
It can be easy for us to become more recluse when we have a lot going on in our lives. During times of adversity and struggle, we tend to hide into ourselves and push away those who love and care about us. Keeping people connected to you, even when you aren’t feeling your best, can be an ultimate mood booster!
The next time you start feeling negative energy creep in, reach out to one of your loved ones. Whether via call, text, email or even in-person visit, make it a point to find time for human connection. You don’t always have to lay down your burdens on these people, but sometimes, simply being around someone you care about can completely shift your emotional state and even alter your perspective on what you may be going through. Cherish all moments with those you love and you’ll start to experience a more uplifted version of yourself!
This Week’s Happiness Tip: Narrow Your Focus
A lot of times when we feel burnt out or overwhelmed in our lives, it might be because we have too many balls in the air. With too many projects, tasks, or responsibilities to focus on, you don’t give yourself a chance to enjoy what it is that you’re doing. Multitasking can decrease your productivity which can ultimately bring on feelings of stress. It doesn’t take much for your stress levels to continue to gradually build, until you reach a breaking point.
If you are feeling overwhelmed, reflect on your goals that you have. Pick one primary task or project to take on, and commit to it for an extended period of time. Give yourself a deadline for completion and stick to it. By narrowing your focus, you’ll extend your energy levels and decrease your risk of burnout. Make this a practice and you’ll be accomplishing all your goals in no time with ease!
This Week’s Happiness Tip: Use Your Alone Time
Sometimes it can be hard to identify what truly makes us happy. That’s why when we set out time for just ourselves to be alone and practice mindfulness, it’s important that we use that time wisely. While binge-watching your favorite shows or eating your favorite comfort food might seem to bring you temporary happiness, true happiness is finding what brings you joy and contentment in the long run.
To take a deeper look into what makes you truly happy, try using your alone time constructively to learn more about yourself and challenge your mind. This could be through meditation, self-reflection, mindfulness exercises and more. You can even find inspiration through watching documentaries on subjects that interest you, brainstorm creative ideas or even starting a new hobby. Doing these things allows for your mind to stretch beyond its everyday capacity and expose you to things that you may not realize make an impact on you. Do this often and keep a journal of everything you try. At the end of each month, you’ll find your mind is open to much more than you ever imagined.
This Week’s Happiness Tip: Plan Your Finances
One major stressor in life can be your financial situation. Sometimes, when things are uncertain in that area, it can have a major effect on your mood, stress level, anxiety level and can even cause depression. Having a plan for our money and financial goals can be an essential contributor to our overall level of happiness and life satisfaction.
When beginning to feel negative emotions caused by finances, begin to take control over your financial landscape. From your day-to-day to your month-to-month expenses, while finances can be uncertain, there’s never a bad time to create a solid plan. You can start off small by practicing a weekly budget and then move towards creating a monthly budget once established. The more often you do this, the more this will become a practice for you. Always remember you should have patience with yourself and not compare yourself to others. The only competition should be with your former self as you grow and evolve.
This Week’s Happiness Tip: Live In Color
Did you know that different colors have a direct relation to your mood and state of mind? Not only can wearing various colors stimulate and inspire you, but adding certain colors to your space can enforce positivity and influence your energy, creativity, how you feel and even aid in healing.
If you ever feel uninspired or lacking energy and can’t really understand why, try incorporating more color into your life. Sometimes, the wrong color choices for your personality can diminish your demeanor. As humans we are innately drawn to certain colors, but they may not be the best for our energy. You can make these changes through your wardrobe, painting your walls, or even adding in accents to your home. If you’re looking to boost your energy levels, try different shades of yellows. If you’re looking for more calming energy, try adding more blues. Whichever end of the spectrum you’re on, do a little research on what your optimal colors may be and make it a fun project for you and a few loved ones. You’ll notice you’ll be thinking, feeling and looking your best in no time!
This Week’s Happiness Tip: Be Healthy
Health looks different for all people. For some, it means maintaining a healthy diet and exercise, for others it may mean becoming more spiritually balanced. Practicing a healthy lifestyle, whether that’s mentally, physically, emotionally or spiritually, is vital for life fulfillment. Your overall level of health affects every aspect of your life and must remain protected at all costs.
With the new year under way, if you are feeling a need to gain a better handle on your level of health, start by evaluating what’s most important to you. Understand what you value and areas in your life that you wish to improve. Take those things and categorize them by priority. Take your highest priority and begin making a practice around how to incorporate that into your daily or weekly life. Always remember, before making any lifestyle changes, it’s always a good idea to do some research to ensure you are maintaining wellness. Try normalizing this change in your life for at least 30 days and watch how much you’ll transform in the process.
This Week’s Happiness Tip: Manifest Your Goals
It’s a new year! Usually a time for celebration and self-reflection, a new year is a perfect opportunity to evaluate what you want in your life in order to prepare for the future. Manifestation is not just a way to attract what you want in your life, but also a way to maintain a positive outlook on your life.
If you feel like you need help trying to understand what your goals are in order to manifest them, try clearing your mind and take a deep dive internally to truly make a connection between who you are and who you want to be. This Week’s Happiness Tip: Assume Responsibility
When challenges arise in life or when things don’t pan out the way we thought they should, it can be easy to place the blame on others. It’s harder to look in our own mirror and understand what things we can do differently. The truth is, that you create the life you live, from the decisions you make, your deepest beliefs about yourself, your perspective on the world and how they affect your life. The more you own that responsibility, the more you are able to tap into the power you have within.
When things happen in your life and you feel the need to look to others to blame, look within instead. Recognize this power you have within and ask yourself how you can use your own power to turn a situation around or move past it. Remember, you are not a victim of your energy or of any outside circumstances. You are a resilient being with limitless power. Own your inner power and own your life!
This Week’s Happiness Tip: Lighten Your Load
When was the last time you felt balanced? No matter what you’re juggling in life, from work, to kids, extended family, partners and more, creating a balance can be a major key for your happiness. Life can take us in directions that we never intended to go, however understanding what we need to stay balanced can help to stabilize our mental state and maintain emotional wellness.
If you’re starting to feel off balance, take a look at everything you have on your plate. Prioritize each element into what needs to be done immediately, and what can wait until a later date. Ask yourself what can be eliminated in order to make your life a little easier. Is everything necessary? And then make sure you are also prioritizing what’s important to you and what brings you joy. Ensure that you are slotting time for that as well throughout your week to prevent burnout. Do this at least once a month, and you’ll create a habit of putting your emotional and mental wellness first. Like they say, there’s a balance to everything!
This Week’s Happiness Tip: Remember To Smile
Did you know that sometimes, just putting on a smile can instantly give you a positive attitude boost. Smiling releases endorphins and serotonin, both known as “feel good” hormones, which can make it much easier to adopt a positive attitude.
When you begin to have a bad day, or even feel yourself beginning to have a bad moment, try practicing just putting on a smile for a few seconds. If you have problems smiling instantaneously, try thinking of a happy memory or even the very last thing that made you genuinely smile. The more you practice, the more this will become a method for helping you shift your energy. Even when things may not go your way, remember you always have the power to shift your energy!
This Week’s Happiness Tip: Have Positive Expectations
Sometimes, the biggest cause of disappointment in our lives can come from having negative expectations. It’s important that we don’t get attached to the outcome of a situation while understanding that everything, whether good or bad, contributes to our human experience. Having positive expectations provides opportunities for our growth therefore we should never have disappointment.
Always having a positive outlook can be tough, but by shifting your perspective to see the value in both the “yes” and “no” of life allows you to take each experience for what it is. When something doesn’t work out, don’t look at it as a failure, but as a valuable experience that was supposed to happen for you to learn and grow. If something doesn’t work out as we wanted, it’s always for the best. Always expect the best, and accept whatever reality brings!
This Week’s Happiness Tip: Encourage Gratitude
It’s your turn to lead by example! This week officially marks the start of the holiday season. For some, the holidays are a beautiful time for celebration and family connection. For others, the holidays may bring up negative emotions and feelings depending on each person’s personal journey. That’s why it’s so important to evoke gratitude for yourself and encourage gratitude in others throughout this season. 2020 has been an especially challenging year, but YOU have at least one thing to be grateful for, and you have the power to shift at least one other person’s perspective for gratitude.
If you need help with encouraging gratitude in others, start by setting the example. Practice gratitude openly and publicly. Whether that includes offering someone a more positive perspective on a situation they may be complaining about, doing the same for your own inner dialogue, sending someone a few kind words written in a note or text message, randomly calling someone to thank them for a small gesture or even giving a small gift, the more you make gratitude expression a recurring element in your life, the more likely you are to spread your energy to others. Being grateful doesn’t always have to be big, but always make it count! Enjoy your holiday!
This Week’s Happiness Tip: Maximize Time Off
With the holidays coming up, a lot of people take time off of work and other responsibilities to visit family, relax or even go on a vacation. Learning how to maximize your time that you take for yourself or relaxation is a great way to ensure that you stay balanced and even maintain emotional stability. For some, it may be hard to actually pull your mind away from everything you left behind during your time off.
This year, if you are taking time away from your normal routine, do just that! Take the time to recalibrate and center yourself for the upcoming year. Treat your time to yourself as a holy grail and honor it as precious time you can’t get back. Focus your mind during this time on yourself instead of everything that needs to be done when you return to your normal life. This will keep negative energy from interfering with your overall aura of peace and mindfulness. Do this and you’ll notice a huge difference in your mood and perspectives to tackle a new day!
This Week’s Happiness Tip: Maintain Positive Vibes
While Election Week last week may have brought on a ton of anxiety and stress for a lot of people, we have to maintain our positivity if we want to keep negative energy at a minimum. Harboring these feelings only increases the chance that other negative feelings will develop as a result.
To keep stress and anxiety at bay, practice mindful meditations that allow you to release these emotions and replace them with positive feelings. While meditating, focus more on what you’d like to manifest for the day. Adding in a crystal, herb or two to these meditations can enhance them and even make them stronger. If you need more guidance on powerful meditations, join me every weekday for a live session on my Instagram or YouTube channels! Let the possible vibes flow!
This Week’s Happiness Tip: Invite Nature Inside
A lot of us have spent the majority of this year in our homes. While we’ve become used to being at home, it’s important that we create environments that cultivate happiness and other positive emotions. Bringing natural elements into the home, not only spruces up your home, but invites positive energy into your space.
If you feel like your home needs a happiness makeover, try incorporating natural elements such as plants, organic soy candles, nature-themed wallpaper or natural crystals. For even more of an emotional wellness boost, you can even incorporate some herbs and flowers to help reduce stress and induce more positive emotions. Everything we surround ourselves with impacts our current state of being, so remember to surround yourself with happiness to feel happier in return!
This Week’s Happiness Tip: Minimize News Exposure
The news is a great way to stay updated on what’s happening in our world but it can also harbor negativity. While we’re currently in the middle of a Presidential election, it can be easy to allow ourselves to be exposed to perspectives and mindsets that can skew our vision of the world. It’s important that in spite of everything, you feed yourself news and content that is educational, entertaining, and uplifting.
If you find yourself feeling bombarded with stories of suffering and toxic energy, try minimizing your direct exposure to news outlets. A good way to do this is to give yourself a time limit of what news outlets you watch along with tailoring your updates from news apps and social accounts. During trying times like these, remember that you can still stay connected with the world, without allowing negativity within your personal mental and energetic space. You are always in control of what you allow in your space, so use your personal power wisely!
This Week’s Happiness Tip: Spend money Wisely
Some people believe that the more money you have, the happier you’ll become. The truth is, how you spend your money is what has an impact on your emotional wellbeing. As we get closer to the holidays, it’s easy to start the list of endless things we feel we have to buy not only for ourselves, but for others.
If you find yourself feeling unbalanced due to finances, whether it’s an abundance or a lack thereof, start being intentional with your spending. Evaluate what means the most to you, from experiences to travel or dining and more, and spend your money on those things that bring you joy. Happiness from material possessions may fade, but experiences last in your lifetime forever!
This Week’s Happiness Tip: Get Up Early
While waking up before the sun rises may not be for everyone, at least starting your day earlier can be an amazing change in your life that can bring more peace, contentment and productivity. Early risers tend to be happier, healthier and more balanced than those who wait until the last minute to start their day. This can create chaotic energy in your morning routine which can in turn be a hindrance to your mood and mind throughout the day.
Instead of hitting the snooze button when your alarm goes off, try making an effort to start your day earlier, giving you more time to do something you love. Whether it’s waking up early to exercise, meditate, journal, eat a healthy breakfast or even just spend time alone, starting your day earlier than usual not only gives you more time in your day to be in the moment, but also gives you more of an opportunity to dedicate time to yourself which always creates positive energy. Take time for yourself and give ‘rise and shine’ a new meaning!
This Week’s Happiness Tip: Don’t Compare Yourself
In the world of social media today, we have immediate access to people and an inside look at the lives they want us to see. It can become easy for us to compare ourselves to our peers and even those that have a life that we aspire to have. Sometimes we don’t even know that we’re doing it. Comparisons are a sure fire way to introduce negative thoughts and energy into your aura.
If you start having feelings of self-doubt and regret when looking at the lives of others, stop yourself and shift your focus from a scarcity mindset to an abundance mindset. Instead of focusing on the things in your life that you may be lacking, practice gratitude in that moment for what you have and your journey thus far. Remind yourself that most people only portray an edited version of themselves and you are not alone in the ups and downs of your human experience. There’s nothing wrong with you and you are never powerless in the pursuit of your dreams! Use this as motivation to continue your journey with pride and certainty that you are right where you need to be! Trust in divine timing and remember to focus on your journey, not the journey of others. Everyone’s journey and divine timing is unique to their individual path. You’ve got this!
This Week’s Happiness Tip: Experience Life!
Did you know that most of us are going through life, but not actually experiencing life? Too focused on controlling every outcome? This is a recipe for frustration, angst and unhappiness. And it diminishes the enjoyment of the human experience.
Instead, you should focus on the experience, remain in flow, be mindful of the experience you are having from moment to moment and what you are getting from it. It’s not always about the outcome. Sometimes a goal is not meant to be achieved, but the experience you have in striving to reach the goal is what was meant to be a catalyst to your growth and prosperity. If you feel yourself getting caught up in these feelings of frustration and angst, it might be time to relinquish control and ground yourself in the human experience so that you can remain open to all the wonders that are available to you now to foster your growth. Always know that you are rightly guided, so you will be ok regardless of the outcome. Remember, if you’re missing the experience, you’re missing the point!
This Week’s Happiness Tip: See Your Friends
These recent times have given us a new perspective on how to socialize, but it’s still important to find ways to maintain healthy socialization with close friends to keep yourself happy and motivated in life. Humans need companionship which can have a major impact on our emotional wellness.
If you are feeling a lack of connection with those you are closest with, consider finding some healthy ways to see your friends. There are ways to nurture your meaningful relationships by having a lunch date outside, going for a nice nature walk or planning a picnic in the park with all the fixings as we begin to close out the Summer. Even scheduling a fun ZOOM call with your closest group of friends could make a huge difference in your day. It’s important to keep your social connections and have fun…all in a healthy and responsible way! Your Future happy self will thank you 😉
This Week’s Happiness Tip: Feed Your Soul
What do you need? How long has it been since you’ve asked yourself that question? Oftentimes, life’s responsibilities has us multitasking to the point where we forget about our own needs and solitude. We forget that there are things we need to do to feed our soul and nurture our spirit.
The first step is to ask yourself what those things are that feed your soul. What brings you joy and makes you feel ALIVE? For some, it may be exercising, for others it may be music, spending time with loved ones and maybe for others it’s putting time into hobbies that spark joy in life. What feeds your soul? Do more of this and you’ll find your key to happiness!
This Week’s Happiness Tip: Have No Regrets
As we get closer towards the end of the year, it’s normal to start self-reflecting. This year has been quite a different one! While it’s normal and healthy to reflect on the past, dwelling on it and focusing on your regrets instead of your accomplishments can have major consequences on your mental and emotional Wellness. It’s important to always keep in mind that everything happens for a reason and there is always something positive that comes out of perceived setbacks.
If you feel yourself having regretful feelings towards anything, learn to let go and keep moving forward. Practice mindfulness each day to start living in the now and give yourself permission to be human and to continue on this great journey to your most powerful self. Remember, with divine timing, you are exactly where you are supposed to be at all times!
This Week’s Happiness Tip: Unblock Your Chakras
With everything that we have going on in our lives, every now and then our chakras can become blocked, which can cause emotional, mental, spiritual and even physical ailments. Keeping your chakras balanced and uncocked is a good holistic way to maintain your happiness and ensure that you are living a life of wellness and strength. Unblocking your chakras can be done as much as you like and at any time you start to feel unbalanced or overwhelmed with life.
If you often feel symptoms of anxiety, stress, depression, hopelessness, low energy, physical health issues and are even unfocused you can start by first knowing what each chakra is and what areas of the body they serve. By understanding what each chakra is and where it is in the body, you can identify more clearly why that chakra may be blocked and heal yourself from what may be causing the issue. When you’ve identified the part of the body that needs the most attention, focus your meditations or quiet time catering to that part of the body using elements that strengthen the accompanying chakra. You can even pick a day of the week to focus on each of the seven chakras if you’d like to address your whole body. If you’d like more information on chakras, how they work and how to balance them, download my FREE Chakra Guide by visiting https://mysticuniversity.net/p/chakra-guide.
This Week’s Happiness Tip: Remember Happy Moments
One great way of maintaining a happy and healthy mindset is to remember happy moments. Studies have shown that simply recalling a happy memory can make us happier. Nostalgia not only can make us happier, but it can increase self-confidence and make us feel closer to those we care about. Reminiscing on happy moments also helps in being more mindful and appreciative of the present.
If you feel yourself lagging in emotional stability, take a moment to pause and remember good times and happy memories. Our lives can sometimes be so hectic and packed with responsibilities that it can be difficult to disconnect, even for a moment. Start by taking a few minutes each day to yourself. In these moments, practice your breathing and allow your mind to focus on one happy memory. Go back to how you felt and immerse yourself back into that moment. You’ll notice your mood begin to shift and you’ll realize that you’ve just conquered your emotions! *POW*🎉
This Week’s Happiness Tip: Maintaining Consistency
One of the easiest ways to keep yourself emotionally balanced is to maintain consistency with healthy habits. This can include daily meditations, frequent breaks throughout the day or maintaining daily exercise regiment. The goal is to create consistency to eventually form a new healthy habit to incorporate within your daily routine.
While we know that healthy habits are a way to keep the positive vibes flowing, it can be difficult to begin to establish consistency. Some ways to maintain consistency with new healthy habits are to set them at certain times throughout the day. Creating a routine and repeating that every day, will begin to create automatic habits that you don’t have to push yourself so hard to do. Depending on your lifestyle, it may be better to do these things in the morning to start your day off right and before you get caught up in too many things that can derail you. If the morning doesn’t work, make it an evening routine or any other time of day that works for you. Don’t feel like you have time? You can always find time for the things that are important to you, so remember to put yourself first, because your overall mental, emotional, physical and spiritual wellness is important. You’ve got this! 😉
This Week’s Happiness Tip: Be Your Own Influence
You truly cannot be a value to yourself unless you start treating yourself with the value that you deserve. This includes actually wanting to be YOU! The best thing that you can do for yourself is to be your own biggest fan. The higher you think of yourself, the more you’ll meet your own needs/goals and ultimately feel good about yourself.
This is where embracing your inner power comes in! Do you understand that you are a limitless being? Really let that notion sink into your consciousness. You are powerful and can accomplish anything you set your mind to. What we think are “mistakes” are really the Universe guiding us to our true life path, giving us tremendous opportunities for growth. Having this mentality jumpstarts your ability to let things go and take each lesson in life as an experience that you were meant to endure for the betterment of yourself. Celebrate the fact that you have the ability to get through the peeks and valleys and really begin recognizing your inner power now. Only then will you understand your own true value.
This Week’s Happiness Tip: Give Yourself Permission
Sometimes, we tend to overthink things, worried about whether or not we’re making the right decisions that will lead to our goals. In doing so, we begin to actually cloud our judgment and promote the need to control everything in our lives. While it is always good to stand in your power and willfully manifest what you desire, the need to always be in control creates a negative energy that can permeate through our entire being if we let it.
This is why it’s important to just “chillax” sometimes! Don’t take yourself too seriously all the time and take the time to actually enjoy your human experience. Know that you will always make the right decisions when it is done from your inner being, not always your brain. It’s ok to be in flow sometimes and not have the need to control every aspect of your life. The next time you find yourself overthinking or putting too much pressure on yourself, try taking some time to have fun, relax and enjoy the present the moment. This will actually allow your mind to clear and then the right inspirations, ideas and solutions will be more likely to pop in! Just go with the flow and remember that things will always work out exactly as they’re supposed to for your highest benefit in the end! You’ve got this!
This Week’s Happiness Tip: Focus On Yourself
We often think by helping others we’ll receive good karma, and an overwhelming feeling…While it’s always a great gesture to help others in need, we can’t ignore the one person who needs us the most…ourselves. If we prioritize others over ourselves, it can lead to burnout, exhaustion and added stress. Too much of helping others can significantly impact your emotional well-being, especially if it becomes habitual behavior.
If you find yourself feeling overwhelmed or like everything and everyone else’s needs are coming before your own, it’s time to shift the energy! Focus your energy back on yourself and prioritize your self-care above anything else. Set boundaries that will allow you this time and focus for yourself. If you are having a difficult time figuring out exactly what may work for you, try looking at each area of your life and understanding what’s important to you and needs more care. For example, analyze your health, relationships, finances, career and even spirituality to acknowledge which area needs the most attention. Then, cater to YOUR needs…no one else’s!
This Week’s Happiness Tip: Stop Procrastinating!
Procrastination can rear its ugly head in a multitude of ways within our lives. We tend to know what we should be doing, but we may have blockages that prevent us from actually getting it done. Whether it’s a matter of fear, exhaustion, frustration, or sometimes just not wanting to do it, as soon as any negative energy emerges, procrastination can creep in. When you overcome procrastination, you increase the positive energy flow, you can achieve more of your goals and tap into potential you never knew you had.
Whenever you feel like you aren’t being as productive as you can, it’s time to combat procrastination. One way is to get organized in the way that suits you best. Part of why procrastination happens is because we get overwhelmed and our focus begins to shift. Break up your tasks into smaller action steps and allow yourself to focus on one element at a time. Also, get into practice of honoring your own commitments to yourself and ask yourself the question, “what am I afraid of?”. More often than not, procrastination is rooted in some kind of fear that is holding you back. Remember, that you have control over your life. It’s time to take your power back!
This Week’s Happiness Tip: Find Your Flow
While most people think that the key to life is reaching some form of an end goal, whether it be a certain amount of money, a professional status or reaching a personal milestone, many forget that it’s experiencing the journey that ultimately gives you the most fulfillment. That’s why getting into a daily flow of actions or activities that lead to your goals can be a major source of emotional stability.
If you find yourself unfulfilled or dissatisfied with your daily life, try reevaluating the steps in your journey. This can work for any goal, no matter how big or small, and any action steps you take to get there. For example, if one of your goals is to write a book, within your daily routine, include activities like completing a few minutes of research each day or dedicating just a little bit of writing time each day, to help you reach that goal. This will become your “flow.” Once you find that flow, you’ll notice that your days will become more productive and fulfilling, thus making your actual journey enjoyable and you a much happier version of yourself. Most importantly, have fun with it and be ready for any exciting twists and turns that happen along the way! Embrace the experience!
This Week’s Happiness Tip: Practice Mindful Eating
Did you know that not just what you eat, but how you eat can have a direct impact on your happiness? That’s why there are terms like “stress eating” and “comfort foods” in existence. We live in a culture where food is considered a direct reflection of how we feel at the time and we have learned to associate specific emotions with certain eating habits. By practicing mindful eating, we allow ourselves to slow down, use our senses, and be more deliberate about the energy we place into our bodies.
One way to practice mindful eating, is to get in the habit of silencing or turning off your electronic devices upon eating, especially while eating at home. Then, take a moment to clear your head, appreciate the meal in front of you and set an intention of what kind of nourishment you want this food to give you mentally, emotionally and even spiritually. You can set this intention simply with your mind. Lastly, in between bites, place your fork down to slow your pace. Eating should be an experience, not a race. Once mastered, you’ll not only feel better about yourself, but will gain a new appreciation for the nourishment you give to yourself and your overall wellness. The food you eat becomes a part of your Chi (Life force energy), which governs all parts of you, so make each experience count!
This Week’s Happiness Tip: Pause Social Media
It may be hard to believe that social media can affect your state of happiness, but studies have shown that social media content can have a direct affect on our overall happiness and life satisfaction. As we scroll through our feeds, we can often feel pressured to compare ourselves with others or continually absorb negativity and fear, which can have a negative impact on our overall emotional and mental wellness.
With so much happening in the news and society as a whole, taking a break from social media can do wonders for your state of happiness. Take a day out of your week to designate as your “off” day from social media. Instead, try filling that extra time with other activities that you enjoy doing or attempt to do something new. Anything that lends to your personal life fulfilment, no matter how big or small, is always a good idea! Put yourself first by taking this time to replenish!
This Week’s Happiness Tip: Pay It Forward
You never know what kind of impact a simple act of kindness can do for your emotional wellbeing. Having a giving spirit towards others can not only make someone’s day, but can give you a sense of fulfillment that you may not realize you need. Now more than ever, spreading kindness and gratitude towards others is exactly what we need to bring us together and uplift each other to get us through these challenging times.
If you want to practice paying it forward to promote more positivity in your life, try incorporating small acts of kindness at least once a week. You could start with paying for the next person’s coffee in the drive-thru, sending a friend an uplifting message, share a compliment with a few people while grocery shopping, or even post a sticky note with a positive message in your home for your family to see. Paying it forward doesn’t have to require too much effort and can be social distance-friendly. Get creative and have fun making someone else’s day special.
This Week’s Happiness Tip: Remember To Pause
During times like these, you can be experiencing so many mixed emotions. Remember that sometimes a pause may be exactly what you need to get your energy balanced. A few moments of pause can be the difference between clarity and a decision made by clouded judgement. A pause can allow you to truly take account of your feelings and emotions. A pause can release you from negative emotions and clear the path for a fresh perspective. Taking a pause doesn’t mean you aren’t taking action. In fact, taking a pause means you are clearing the way for your next step in life, no matter the circumstances. Your pause can come through meditation, mindfulness or even moments of silence. Dedicate some time back to yourself and take as long of a pause that’s needed to recalibrate your life and get in tune with your authentic self.
This Week’s Happiness Tip: Be Perfectly Imperfect
We all strive for perfection, or as close to it as possible. Even though we know that perfection is unattainable, our subconscious mind will sometimes allow us to slip into striving for it anyway. The problem with the idea of perfection, is that it suggests that you are always in a state of deficiency. This mindset and life perspective can be dangerous to our self worth, can stifle our growth and diminish our inner power which can provoke other negative emotions.
If you feel pressures of maintaining a level of perfection, realize that you are perfectly imperfect. Release your inner social constructs that keep your mind imprisoned to believe that you are deficient. Instead of striving for perfection, try striving to be present instead. Allow yourself to be free within the moments and fully participate in your own life experience. We are all meant to remain in a state of becoming, therefore we are always evolving into our greatness. Perfection doesn’t exist because our growth journey never ends. That’s what makes our journey so great! So, continue to grow, but be present, without judgement, in every moment of that growth!
This Week’s Happiness Tip: The Growth Mindset
Did you know that at an early age, we develop a certain mindset that ends up dictating our behavior, personality, our approach to success and failure as well as our capacity for happiness overall? We can either develop a mindset that is “fixed”, which keeps our personality static, or “growth”, which means our conditions and mindsets can be further developed. Having a growth mindset is all about embracing change, being teachable and an internal drive to overcome times of adversity and thrive in any environment. It’s time to manifest the growth mindset to increase your happiness and unlock your unlimited growth potential!
You can start to cultivate a growth mindset by changing your perspective on your journey in general. Creating a sense of purpose with every move that you make keeps the big picture at the forefront of your mind and allows you to value the process of your journey rather than always focusing on the final destination. Every step on your journey is of equal importance and should be appreciated for the growth opportunities that lie there. Both the good and the bad all their purpose on your journey of growth. Celebrate these times and abandon the fixed image that you have of yourself in order to allow yourself to evolve. Take calculated risks and learn from your lessons along the way. Remember, without change there can be no growth and growth is what the human experience is all about!
This Week’s Happiness Tip: Maintaining Mental Health
Being in isolation for an extended period of time can prove to be tough for some. As we continue to practice social distancing, it’s important that we maintain a level of mental health to get us through it and come out even healthier on the other side of this global pandemic. Learning how to identify unhealthy mental behaviors is extremely important in order to get ahead of any significant changes in your mental health.
To make your quarantine experience a healthy one, figure out activities and practices that work for you. Every person finds solace and peace in different things so understanding what those things are is a great place to start. Then create a daily schedule for yourself that includes the activities. With so much uncertainty in the world, creating a sense of routine will bring normalcy to each day. Make sure you have an outlet to express yourself and connect with others! As humans, it’s natural for us to crave human interactions so get creative with video calls, outside activities and service-oriented projects. Just because we’re self-isolating, doesn’t mean you have to feel alone! Stay encouraged, stay motivated!
This Week’s Happiness Tip: Make Intentional Choices
What people often forget, is that your happiness is always a choice! Everything that you need to maintain your emotional wellness lies within you. Being intentional with your daily choices, whether it’s your environment, your attitude or even how you interact with others, is a key to gaining control over, not only your life, but your emotional wellbeing. You can find yourself internalizing negative energy when you act on choices because of the opinions, beliefs or values of others.
When you find your emotional state getting out of balance, start by admitting to yourself what your needs are at that particular moment. Sometimes this may require you to shift your focus and take a step back from something or someone that may be interfering with your energy. Then it’s time to shift the energy! Be intentional about the people that you surround yourself with during this time of imbalance and put yourself first. Let go of any negativity and be honest with yourself and those around you. Make this a habit with your daily decisions and you’ll find that your internal power will become that much stronger.
Life isn’t about pleasing others, it’s about choosing YOU every day!
This Week’s Happiness Tip: Ignite Your Light
In each of us, there is a light of love, compassion, courage, wisdom and happiness. Sometimes, during times of tragedy and adversity, our light begins to dim, and it might be hard to get it to spark back up. You’ll find that only when you heal, you begin to bring hope back into your life in order to ignite your light again.
If you find that your light is diminishing, or you are struggling through a dark time, this may be the opportunity to ask for help. For some, hiring someone that is skilled in healing others may prove to be beneficial while others find solace in performing energy healing exercises on themselves such as meditation, breathing techniques and mindfulness practices. Whichever method suits you best, it’s important for you to know that your light deserves to shine bright! For an even more personal and exploratory journey through self-discovery and empowerment, consider enrolling in the newly launched, Mystic University, A School For The Spiritually Gifted where you can go through self-guided experiences that lead to transformation, healing, increased knowledge and development in metaphysics and more. This Week’s Happiness Tip: Have More Fun
Your life is a journey, not a destination and this moment in your life, is not the final stop on your path to greatness. While we try to create some normalcy around this abnormal moment in time, it’s important that you remember to enjoy this time. Tailor your experience in quarantine to your specific needs to promote joy. Our thoughts of all of our daily responsibilities and other worries that have emerged during this time can create a negative foundation for each day. It’s okay for you to enjoy yourself in times of challenge and adversity.
If you are feeling like you are having trouble letting yourself go in order to have fun during this time, you first must remember the feeling of actually having fun. Bring yourself back to a time when you felt alive, fearless, joyful and overall free. That feeling is what you should choose as your benchmark for pleasure. Then, any other inner voice that doesn’t promote that feeling should be acknowledged and then let go of and silenced. This is how you train your mind to let go of feelings that can pull you into negativity, and push yourself into experiences of pure joy. Incorporating this practice for even just 5 minutes of your daily routine, will lead you to thoughts of what you can do to have fun again. Making happiness and fun a priority shouldn’t just be a consideration, but an essential part of your wellbeing.
This Week’s Happiness Tip: Fear and Anxiety
Fear and anxiety, especially during a time like this, can show itself in various ways within different people. These powerful emotions can evoke negative energy and can result in a multitude of negative effects on the mind, body and soul.
If you feel yourself starting to drift towards negative emotions, it’s important to take some time to reflect on where the feelings are coming from. Getting to the root of your issues is the key to learning how to overcome them. Then you can begin shifting your emotions by evoking the opposite emotions within you. Do this with confidence and focused intention and you have the power to shift any emotion into a positive one. This Week’s Happiness Tip: Meditation Routines
It’s never too late to start meditating! During times like this, you might find it helpful to practice more mindfulness and meditation. Making meditation a habit gives you a sense of internal power and control over your mind that can be beneficial to your overall emotional wellbeing during times of crisis, such as the pandemic that we are currently experiencing. The key is to create a routine that works for you!
If you are feeling unbalanced and have a desire to create a habit out of daily meditation, start off by committing to a time limit and a general time of day. No matter if it’s 2 minutes of 2 hours, pick a time to meditate and commit to it. It’s helpful to shoot for a time when you regularly have a break, such as a dedicated lunch hour, in the mornings before you start your day, or when you stop working for the day. Once you’ve chosen your time and time limit, choose a spot that is quiet, comfortable and where you can relax. Begin your meditation with breathing exercises and repeat daily for extra benefit. Remember, it’s not about clearing your mind, but instead about refocusing your attention inwards. As you do that, other thoughts will begin to fade away naturally. Just allow them to come and go, but remain focused inward. Do this, and you’ll become a meditation guru in no time!
This Week’s Happiness Tip: Embrace New Beginnings
It’s a new month which means a catalyst for new opportunities! While this time may be challenging and can sometimes prove to be difficult to navigate at times, it’s also a time for reflection and reinvention. While we don’t yet know what the long-term impact will be from this pandemic, we can start to embrace a new normal. Let this be a time where you wipe the slate clean and adopt new habits for a healthy and fulfilling life, both personally and professionally.
If you are finding it hard to accept the changes that have risen from this time of isolation, you first have to make sure your mindset and perspective is in a state of acceptance. When you resist change, you allow for negative energy to penetrate your mind, which could have an effect on your overall emotional state. Focus your mind on your daily actions and creating a new daily routine whether that’s through your work environment, family time or even through your quarantine activities. Once you understand that this is a situation that you cannot change, your mindset will begin to shift. You may just find that it’s time to adapt, persevere and succeed! Sometimes, disruption gives birth to innovation!
This Week’s Happiness Tip: Be Inspired!
During this down time, what are you doing to keep yourself inspired and motivated? While the responsibilities of life haven’t stopped, whether financial, personal or professional, it doesn’t mean that your inspiration has to take a backseat. What inspires you? What are your passions? Now is the perfect time to revisit these things. Discovering, knowing and understanding what inspires and motivates you can lead to clarity and an overall awareness of new opportunities while spring boarding your creativity to new heights. This not only has the potential to get you closer to your goals in life, but have been proven to have a direct relationship towards your life’s purpose. Are you walking your path and purpose?
If you are feeling a lack of inspiration during today’s climate, go back to square one and ask yourself these important questions. Rev-evaluate what you’ve been doing and what you’ve been focusing on. Will those things lead you to happiness and fulfillment? Reconnecting to your passions and inspirations may just be that missing element that will lead you to fulfillment in life. A fulfilled life is a happy and joyous one, so it’s time to take your power back and accept nothing less. Just remember, the road may be short or long, but if you never start on the path, you’ll never get to the destination. You already have all of the answers inside of you, so be empowered to be rightly guided and see what epiphanies open up! Namaste- “I bow to divine within you.”
This Week’s Happiness Tip: Practice Mindfulness
Are you aware of where you are, what you’re doing and fully present of what’s going on around you? Practicing mindfulness is something that everyone can do. It makes a huge difference in our lives when we practice it on a daily basis and can be especially helpful during times of crisis. Mindfulness can help take you out of the state of fear and worry and bring you into the present moment. Feelings of fear and worry are centered around the possibilities of what the future may bring and keeps your mind focused on things that may not ever even happen.
If you feel the need to connect more with your mental, emotional and physical self, you can start practicing mindfulness by meditating, doing body scans and taking time to pause and breathe. If you don’t know where to begin, literally take it one moment at a time. The present moment is just that- the NOW. Take a few minutes to follow the sensation and flow of your breath as you breathe in and out. That is happening right now. Look around you and notice what’s right in front of you in appreciation. It’s in the present moment where you are able to find peace and groundedness. With mindfulness, the more you practice being in the present moment, the easier it gets and the more peace and joy you’re sure to experience!
This Week’s Happiness Tip: Be Smart, Not Fearful
Have you been experiencing feelings of frenzy and irrational thinking? In recent times, due to the growing hysteria associated with Coronavirus news, it’s important to keep your thought process positive and rational, while still taking all of the necessary precautions. Staying rational in the midst of chaotic energy can prevent your energy, and the energy around you, from shifting into fear, anger or any other negative energy frequencies.
If you find yourself feeling anxious, fearful and even a bit manic due to Coronavirus updates, as long as you are following EVERY necessary precaution, it’s important that you shift your energy with declaration, affirmation and expectation. Realize that what you may be fearful of happening hasn’t actually happened yet, and may not happen at all. Be intentional by declaring what you want your emotional state to be and what you want to happen. Stand firm in that thought process by expecting it to come to fruition. Your thoughts are very powerful, so you should always expect the best, not the worst. Shift whatever negative energy that you may be feeling by declaring that you will NOT allow yourself to sit in that emotional or mental state any longer and affirm what you want the solution to be. Believe that it will be done and watch how quickly your mood begins to change for the better. You may not be able to control the distress around you, but you can choose to stay safe and grounded in the midst of any chaos. Remember your power.
This Week’s Happiness Tip: Spiritual Guidance
The relationship between spirituality and happiness can be significant! Spirituality is all about seeking a meaningful connection with something bigger than yourself. Realizing what it is that connects you to your higher power can keep you mentally and emotionally balanced while maintaining a healthy connection to those around you. Happiness isn’t just about feeling joy all the time, but rather a journey through experiences to preserve that joy.
If you feel yourself disconnecting from people and your inner self, try implementing a spiritual practice within your day with the purpose of reflecting, showing gratitude, and/or seeking a deeper understanding of the world around you. Spiritual practices can range from meditation, prayer, chanting, journaling, reading spiritual content and even singing or playing an instrument. Spirituality is deeply personal. Whichever practice that you find the most beneficial for your well being should feel comfortable and flow naturally with your lifestyle. Practice on!
This Week’s Happiness Tip: Self-Care
What do you do to maintain your self-care? Having a good and consistent self-care regimen can ease your mind when life gets busy and prevent you from feeling like you’re losing yourself. Maintaining good self-care habits not only keep you emotionally and mentally healthy, but can trigger an overall better ‘you’ when dealing with others.
If you don’t already have a self-care regimen or are looking for new ideas to add to your current one, start with figuring out your desires and what brings you joy. For some it could be making sure they make it to a 5 am workout, or taking time to get a facial every so often. For others, it could mean taking a cooking class or putting their phone on Do Not Disturb for an hour to get some valuable time to themselves. Don’t think that self-care is selfish or a luxury that you can’t afford; it’s a necessity that keeps you functioning at your most optimal level! Remember, self-care looks different for each person so find a balance that works for you.
This Week’s Happiness Tip: Self Honesty
Often times, we point fingers at things outside of ourselves and use them as excuses as to why we have not achieved our goals. But when doing this, we lie to ourselves and therefore fail to see the truth of our own mistakes, negligence or misdirection. How often can you say that you’re honest with yourself? Self honesty can have a direct impact on you finally reaching those goals! Being honest with yourself can allow you to promote self-growth, self-reflection and will allow you to have a better relationship with yourself.
Honesty with yourself takes practice. In order to practice self honesty, envision the most ideal version of yourself and write it down. This is the version of you that is living their best, most fulfilled life. Ask yourself, “what are you doing to get there; what is stopping you; why haven’t you gotten there yet; what do you need to give up in order to achieve the best version of you?” Provide answers to those questions. If the answer is pointing a finger to anything or anyone outside of yourself then look for the answer within. You are the cause AND the solution. You always have the power to push through any barrier with the right perseverance and drive! Once you have the honest answers, you must take ACTION to get there. Be empowered! Sometimes the truth can set you free! Now go and be great! 🚀
This Week’s Happiness Tip: Go For The Goals
One of the easiest ways to maintain emotional wellness is through creating and achieving goals. While it can be a way to maintain emotional wellness, it can also serve as a hindrance as well. In human nature, we tend to rejoice when we meet a milestone or accomplishment and encounter disappointment when we don’t. Knowing how to balance expectations concerning your goals can be one vital key to your happiness.
Whenever you find yourself experiencing negative energy from not reaching a goal or milestone, consider revisiting your goals to begin with. We should constantly be reassessing our goals to ensure that they give you breathing room. Maybe you didn’t give yourself enough time, or maybe an unexpected life event got in the way of your ability to reach that goal. Maybe your strategy had a flawed foundation or limiting belief? Whatever the roadblock may be, sometimes the answer is to take a step back to look at it from a different perspective. There is always a way for you to attain the goal you seek, it just might not be on the timeline you desire, but it’s possible. There is no goal that is “unrealistic”. You are a limitless being with limitless potential. You just have to find your own path to your greatness!
This Week’s Happiness Tip: Heal Through Sleep
When was the last time that you got a good night’s rest? The answer for many is not very often. The amount of sleep that we get is directly linked to our overall happiness, wellbeing and health. When you don’t get proper sleep at night you run a higher risk of having emotional imbalance such as the negative energy of depression, irritability and stress to creep its way into your life. With the appropriate amount of nightly rest, not only is your brain well-rested, but your productivity increases and you can be more present with the people around you.
If you feel yourself feeling groggy or fatigued on a regular basis, try incorporating a calming nightly routine into your evening. To promote the best energy while you sleep, keep your electronic devices at a distance during bedtime, allowing at least 30 minutes of electronic-free time before bed. Then, taking as little as 5 minutes of meditation time will help you unwind and allow the calm energy to flow through you. Finally, play relaxing music at a low volume or put a lavender sachet under pillow to help ease your mind and bring you into a relaxing state of being. Remember, consistency is key, so the more you do this, the better your sleep will be!
This Week’s Happiness Tip: Feed Your Soul
Did you know that just like your body, your soul needs to be fed and nurtured as a way to refuel and refresh itself at the deepest levels? Unfortunately, most of us don’t take the time to feed our souls as much as we should. When you give your soul attention, you strengthen the overall connection between mind, body and soul while evoking a spiritual nourishment that can have an intense and long-lasting and positive effect on your physical and emotional being.
If you find yourself feeling disconnected and can’t pinpoint a reason why, you may need to take some time to recalibrate. This recalibration can happen through a number of ways: reading a book on an exciting topic, sitting in silence and tuning into your higher self, going on a nature walk, journaling, listening to music or even doing some charity work. Find the things that bring you true joy and happiness. If you don’t know what that is, try something new! Remember that your mind, body and soul are connected so when one element is off, the others are at risk as well. Keep your soul fed and watch how rejuvenated you’ll start to feel.
This Week’s Happiness Tip: Get Physical
Did you know that your physical health has a direct relation to your mental and emotional health? It’s critical that your inner voice is representative of self-love and self-discipline, which fosters an environment for healthy physical habits. A healthy body fosters and promotes emotional stability, you are, which allows you to think and perform with a clear mind.
If you find yourself stressed or overwhelmed due to life happenings, try getting your body moving with physical activity. Dedicating just 20-30 minutes a day to some form of physical activity is enough to make a difference. Whether it’s making going to the gym part of your morning routine or taking a run around your neighborhood to even taking a light walk around the office, get your body moving and those endorphins released! Even try taking up a hobby that includes physical activity, such as dancing, yoga, tennis or anything you’re interested in. It’s never too late to try something new! A little bit of activity can make a big difference to your overall well-being!
This Week’s Happiness Tip: Enhance Your Vision

This Week’s Happiness Tip: Happy Holidays
Happy Holidays to all! This season is all about taking time to reflect and give thanks for everything you’ve accomplished or overcome throughout the last year. This holiday season, take some time to reflect over the last year at accomplishments and lessons learned! How can you use these as building blocks or a springboard for propelling you to the next level in 2020? Be you, be bright… be happy! Happy Holidays!
This Week’s Happiness Tip: Bypass The Comfort Zone
Think back to some of your most memorable experiences in life. I’m willing to bet that most of those experiences happened because you took a risk, explored something new, or took a giant leap of faith. Stepping outside of your comfort zone not only allows us to grow healthily in areas that may have been lacking, but it also pushes us to our limits and helps us form deeper relationships in order to become the best version of ourselves.
If you find trouble in risk-taking, start by creating a habit of saying, “yes!” Stop becoming a creature of habit by overthinking a situation and learn to trust your gut. Break up with fear and start changing your mindset to accepting new opportunities as they arise. You’ll learn that life is much more enjoyable and you’ll begin to manifest everything that’s for you. Your happiness is waiting for you outside of your comfort zone!
This Week’s Happiness Tip: Find Your Passion
What are you truly passionate about? I’ve found that many people don’t know the answer to this question. Going from day to day just getting through and getting caught in the routine of daily responsibilities. Figuring out your passion in life can be a major key to happiness, not only your professional life, but also to your personal life as well. Sometimes, your passion can change with time, circumstances, maturity and even life situations. What remains true is that knowing what you’re passionate about, what brings you true joy and fulfillment, increased clarity and emotional wellbeing.
If you are finding that you are lacking passion in your life, ask yourself what you would do if you had no limitations at all, including financial. Whatever the activities are, start finding time to do those things. If you are finding true fulfillment by doing those activities, then you’ve opened the doors to clarity about your passion and purpose. If you are still finding it hard to understand what you’re passionate about, visit my website to learn more about how I can help! www.MonicaBey.com.
This Week’s Happiness Tip: Open Yourself Up
Often times we spend our waking hours either on thinking about the future or dwelling in the past. Staying in the present moment will allow you to recognize and seize opportunities, inspiration, and ideas when they present themselves. There are always amazing opportunities and sparks of inspiration around you at all times, if you just open your eyes to see them and seize them! You can miss this when you are living in the past or the future because you fail to see what’s in front of you now.
When you notice that your mind is stuck in the future or the past, try bringing immediate attention to something right in front of you and say the word “now” (out loud) to bring you back into the present moment. It works like a charm! Live in the NOW and prepare yourself to experience everything the universe has put in your path for your highest potential!
This Week’s Happiness Tip: Combatting the Chaos
As we begin to phase in to the holiday season, it’s a time of togetherness and joy. However, for many, there will be plenty of opportunity to be around different types of energy due to the influx of social gatherings. Whether it’s during family functions, Friendsgiving celebrations or holiday office parties, sometimes these gatherings are chaotic each year. If you’re not careful, the chaos can affect you too by transferring to your aura and causing unwanted, and even subconscious, emotional instability.
If this is the case for you, the next time you find yourself in a social setting with chaotic energy, try not to let it draw you in. Politely excuse yourself from the room to an area where you can be alone. While you are alone, you can focus on the positive things in your life as a means to lift your energy. When you are ready to return back to the festivities, you can take it a step further by shifting the energy in the room by leading by example. You can possibly alleviate the tension by changing the subject to something more positive in hopes of diffusing a strained situation. As always, pre-meditation is always a reliable option as a method for lessening the impact on yourself and strengthening your resilience. Don’t allow yourself to be a part of the chaos this holiday season. Remember, happiness is a choice! Choose wisely!
This Week’s Happiness Tip: Put Yourself First
Life can sometimes be so overwhelming that we forget to think about ourselves. When we are constantly running around giving our energy to others, whether it’s with our job, our spouse or significant other, or even our children, finding the time to seek solitude and redirect our energy back to ourselves can be challenging.
If you are finding yourself giving more of yourself to others than you are to yourself, it’s time to recalibrate! One way to do this can be to take a full view of your schedule. Wherever you find a gap, put yourself on the calendar. No matter if it’s 15 minutes or 2 hours, dedicate that time to yourself with whatever task or activity that time may permit. This can range from self care, taking yourself on a solo movie date or just a few minutes of alone time to do a self-check in. Whatever you choose, make sure it’s something you are doing just for you. There are enough hours in the day, if you prioritize them with YOU in mind! Putting yourself first allows you to show up as your best self when it counts!
This Week’s Happiness Tip: Allow Yourself Support
Sometimes when we go through various issues in our lives, we tend to detach ourselves from those that love us the most. Support can come from a number of different people in our lives from our friends, our family members to our significant other, or even a stranger who sees our need and is equipped and guided to help. Or it could be a combination of all. Allowing people who are willing and available to offer you support in times of need can not only expedite the healing process, but can also prevent the negative experience you’re enduring from happening again.
If you are someone that habitually retreats to seclusion to deal with your issues, the next time you recognize yourself detaching and retreating, try connecting with someone you love or allowing someone in. If you are uncomfortable expressing your problems verbally, write down everything that’s bothering you and read it out loud to a trusted friend, family member or other loved one. Allow yourself to feel the feelings you’re experiencing, but don’t feel like you need to do it alone. You never know what others have to offer you that can make all the difference. Allowing yourself to be supported is not a sign of weakness, but the ultimate sign of strength!
This Week’s Happiness Tip: Heal Your Energy
Did you know that you can hold on to past traumas and not even recognize it? It happens more than we think and can influence the way we think, act and interact with others. We often don’t take the time to reflect and understand why we have certain behaviors, reactions and thoughts, but the more we consciously work to understand, the more we can deal with it and the more improvement we’ll see in the way we live out our lives on a daily basis.
If you’ve ever wanted to know what may be blocking your path to getting what you want out of life (it’s usually an energy issue), having a few sessions with a trained Energy Healer can not only give you that understanding, but also fix the problem for you. While there are many methods that you can do yourself, which I send out often, there’s no faster or more powerful way than to have an adept Energy Healer do it for you. Understanding your energy, taking some time with a professional, or even teaching yourself the benefits about energy healing in general, can open your mind to a world of possibilities you may have never known. Take control over your healing and find a new meaning to living a happy and healthy life.
This Week’s Happiness Tip: Conquer The Pressure
Do you ever feel like there’s so much going on in your life that you’re about to explode? Being overwhelmed is not an uncommonn feeling. So many people, especially those in an authoritative position, can feel an intense pressure to always be “on.” But it’s important to realize that you are in control of any pressure in your life. Pressure is neither good nor bad and sometimes cannot be escaped, but you can control how you allow it to affect you.
If you’re feeling overwhelmed or a lot of pressure from a leadership position, parenting, or even with a significant other, getting aligned and in tune with yourself is the first step to controlling the effects. A morning routine of self care helps tremendously. Also, look internally at yourself, your environment and all those around you and eliminate the things that are not truly needed, causing you strife and are adding to your feelings of being overwhelmed. But it’s important to keep the things you truly love doing because that helps offset pressure from things that are necessary but you least like doing. Sometimes we just need to take a few more moments a day for ourselves and sometimes we just need a break altogether. Life is about balance. You must find a healthy balance between obligations and true enjoyment. Don’t sacrifice one for the other, but find a way to bring them both into balance and you will be able to take control over pressure and live your life with ease. Life is meant to lived, not endured! Smile! 😁
This Week’s Happiness Tip: Facing Rejection
Rejection can show up in your life in a multitude of ways; whether with a significant other, not getting the job that you wanted or even not winning a competition. Facing rejection can sometimes bring negative energy into your mental space and allowing yourself to sit in this negative state for too long can have major effects on your self-esteem, social interaction and overall mental fortitude. While facing rejection can prove to be difficult, changing your mindset on how to deal with rejection can make all the difference.
The next time you experience moments of rejection, first, allow yourself to have your feelings and then it’s time to accept the circumstances. A lot of times we allow negative emotions to fester because we refuse to accept the reality of what just happened. By accepting, I’m not saying to be a defeated state, but simply an acknowledgment that yes, you were just rejected and you can’t change what just happened. This actually puts you back in a state of power because once you accept it, you can then take a lesson from the situation and determine how you will continue going forward. Everything happens for a reason and sometimes what rejects you had already been rejected for you by the universe because it’s not right for you. Don’t let a small rejection hold you back from the bigger picture.
This Week’s Happiness Tip: Train Your Brain
As humans, we naturally focus on the negative at times, which is actually part of our survival skills. But we no longer live in a world where we have to worry about being eaten by a lion, so this is outdated for us. In today’s age, it is much more conducive to our survival for us to focus on the positive, and we can train our brains to do just that. Just like you exercise your body to stay in shape, your mind needs the same amount of exercise in order for it to stay in its healthiest state. Sometimes, the onset of negative emotions can be sudden, so ensuring that your mind can easily shift is important.
Throughout the week, take a few moments each day to practice exercising your mind towards positivity. You can do this by recalling a time, past or present, that you felt joy, excitement, peace or serenity. Doing this daily will begin to create a recurring pattern to remember positive moments in life, thus creating a subconscious habitual routine. This will not only lift your spirits throughout the day, but will also allow for your mind to be able to shift with ease when negativity emerges. When you change your mind, you change your energy and that has the power to change your life!
This Week’s Happiness Tip: Maintain The Focus
A common daily goal for most professionals is productivity! The key to maintaining the highest level of productivity throughout the day, is to keep a steady and unyielding focus on everything you wish to accomplish. It’s easy to become distracted with everything we have going on in life, however keeping a continued level of focus allows for an influx of positive energy to flow through you.
If you feel like you’re lacking focus, cut your day into smaller segments with easily identifiable goals and time limits. As you successfully complete each one, reward yourself with 20 minutes of down time. If not, kick into gear, turn off everything and commit to getting it done. We are all happier when we accomplish what we need to throughout the day, so productivity is very important to your wellbeing. Don’t wait, happiness is now!
This Week’s Happiness Tip: Overcome Bad Moments
Have you ever been having a pretty good day and then within a moment’s time, it can suddenly take a turn for the worst? Maybe you just found out that you didn’t get the job that you wanted, or maybe you just got news on a family member’s decline in health. Regardless of what it was that made your day take a turn, it was one moment that caused a major energy shift within you. Do you decide to sit in the negative mood, or do you decide to change it?
The moment that you realize your mood is off, take control over your energy! You cannot allow yourself to have a bad day based off of one bad moment. Take a breath, evaluate the situation, and acknowledge your feelings. After you’ve actually felt your feelings, practice gratitude. Say a few things that you’re thankful for and allow your mind to naturally shift towards the positive things in your life. There’s power in positivity!
This Week’s Happiness Tip: Self-Discipline & Procrastination
Do you ever allow yourself to wait until the last minute to get something done? That’s procrastination. Procrastination is always rooted in fear and begins with self-discipline. Combatting it starts with your energy body.
If you find yourself consistently enabling procrastination to creep into your life, start incorporating a daily morning routine and stick to it! Your routine can include meditation, yoga, self-hypnosis techniques and affirmations that remind you of your “why” for your life. What are you doing this for? What’s your end goal? How will things be improved for you or others once it’s done? Find importance that is driven by a greater cause, either for your life, wellbeing or for the world at large. Let that be the force that drives you along with confidence in yourself. Your morning routine will help you begin each day with courage and will help combat any fear to give you the motivation and energy you need to get things done. Start your morning right, and watch how much better each day gets! We are all happier when we’re productive!
This Week’s Happiness Tip: Balance It All
Have you ever felt so overwhelmed with everything going on in your life? A lot of times on our path to success we tend to overload ourselves with things that can drain us mentally, physically, and even emotionally. While having a generous level of determination and ambition is a key component to a prosperous life, maintaining a healthy balance is also a vital component to your overall wellness. Too many projects or tasks can lead to feelings of stress, pressure, tension and even depression; which can eventually lead to a negative mental or physical state.
Whenever you feel yourself beginning to feel stressed or overwhelmed due to the demands of life, take a moment to evaluate everything that you have on your plate. Any task or project that can be pushed to a later time when things aren’t so hectic, or even can be eliminated altogether, is a win for your state of health. Remember that nothing is worth sacrificing your mind, body or spirit!
This Week’s Happiness Tip: Letting It Go
What are you holding on to that you shouldn’t be? Whether it’s an ex-relationship, a job that didn’t work out or even a family issue that hasn’t been resolved, releasing the negative energy surrounding those things can lift a burden off of you that you may not even have noticed was there.
If you feel like you’re holding on to extra baggage within your life that is weighing you down, write those things down on a piece of paper. Then, destroy it by either burning the piece of paper, or flushing it away. As you write it on a piece of paper, there’s an energetic transfer that happens from you to the paper and by destroying the piece of paper, you are symbolically, and actually energetically, letting it go. (Sidebar- this is why we feel better when we write in a diary or journal our feelings.) Once the paper is destroyed, turn your back on it, walk away and don’t look back. This creates an energetic process that seals the deal subconsciously for it to be gone. Unleash your inner power and allow yourself to let go of all things weighing you down! Turn your back on your past and walk toward your future!
*Please practice safety when handling fire.
This Week’s Happiness Tip: Decompress the Stress
Stress is nobody’s friend and allowing it to fester in your life at any point in time can be harmful to your personal and professional development, as well as to the people closest to you. Extreme levels of stress can cause depression, anxiety and possibly your body to break down on you, causing numerous health issues. While it’s impossible to avoid moments of discomfort and discourse within your life, there are ways of managing stress to avoid the buildup of this toxic energy.
If you find yourself dealing with the onset of stress, anxiety, and depression, it’s helpful to know what your stress triggers are. Doing an internal check-in with yourself on a daily basis, being mindful of your stress level shifts and what is causing them can give you the ammunition you need to knock out those triggers. Whatever you find that is triggering your stress response, you can combat it with a calming strategy before and after. A calming strategy to help shift that stress response back into a neutral or happy state pretty quickly. For some, it’s music, yoga or meditation, while for others it may be reading a book or exercising; whatever method you can use to calm and ground yourself, will help when those stressful feelings begin to arise. Remember, you can’t always control when you get stressed, but you are always in complete control of how long you allow yourself to remain in that state. Take your power back!
This Week’s Happiness Tip: Don’t Follow Emotions
Do you ever find yourself acting from emotion? The reality is, emotions almost always cloud our judgment. Making decisions from an emotional state can cause a disconnect with our spiritual and mental energy which can eventually result in traveling down incorrect paths. You have the power to direct your path by making judgments guided by your inner truth and knowledge.
If you feel yourself making major decisions from emotion, it’s time to practice making “rightly-guided” decisions. Take some time to do a few grounding techniques or meditation and get in tune with your higher self. If your decisions are not lead by your intuition through your higher self, there’s a chance your emotions may have gotten the better of you. Take a step back and allow yourself to be clear enough to make the best decisions that will move you forward.
This Week’s Happiness Tip: Find The Kindness
Did you know that kindness feeds the soul? Whenever you do things for others out of kindness and genuine concern, it helps to increase your vibrations which evokes a warm and positive feeling from deep within. This is largely due to the fact that our soul’s true desire is to help others. Therefore, whenever we do something out of the goodness of our hearts, coincidentally, we also feel good inside.
This week, I challenge you to do something nice for someone else with no expectation of anything in return and watch the good vibes and energy flow directly through you. Whether it’s something as simple as paying for the next person in line’s coffee or even as involved as completing a difficult task for someone you love, pay it forward in kindness and watch how great you feel because of it!
This Week’s Happiness Tip: Shed The Past
As humans, as we evolve and develop ourselves into the people we want to be, it’s important that we keep our minds in a state of becoming. This means that we cannot continue looking in the past for what’s to come in our future. Sometimes we create and attach ourselves to an entire identity surrounding who we were in the past and don’t realize that our past self has been shed long ago. This creates an unhealthy state of being because we block ourselves from growing to our fullest potential.
If you find yourself wanting to become better in certain areas of your life but can’t seem to figure out a way to do it, start with making a character sketch of who you would love to become and then start taking the steps towards being that person. Whether you want to be a better wife, mother or lover, or even a more savvy business person, you have the power to shift your reality. Don’t let the ruins of your past, ruin your future!
This Week’s Happiness Tip: Go With The Flow
Have you ever heard the saying, “don’t cry over spilled milk?” Essentially, what it means is that you can’t worry about the things you can’t control. The milk has already been spilled; you can’t salvage it, you can’t use it, so what are you going to do now? And in real-life situations at work or in your personal life, how will you handle circumstances that you can’t change or control? Are you going to fight against the unchangeable, or are you going to adjust or make the situation work in your favor somehow?
Things happen in life, sometimes beyond our control, and the best thing you can do for yourself in these situations is to go with the flow. Don’t dwell on circumstantial drawbacks, but use each experience in life to your advantage. How can you benefit from this situation? Whether it’s as a lesson for future reference or perhaps as a new opportunity for something, there’s always a way to benefit from any given situation. Use your creativity. If you catch yourself fighting for something that you can’t change, take a minute to readjust your mindset and figure out a way to move forward. While change is inevitable, growth is optional. Every problem is an opportunity for growth so open your eyes to the possibilities!
This Week’s Happiness Tip: Mindset of Abundance
It’s time to check your mindset! If you are not where you desire to be and can’t understand why, you might need to readjust your mindset to one of abundance instead of a deficit mindset. We can easily get caught up in focusing on what we’re lacking and forget about all the good things in our lives. Focusing on what you don’t have creates a negative energy pattern that can actually repel abundance altogether. Instead, try focusing on what you DO have and be appreciative for how far you’ve come in your journey thus far. It’s okay to compliment yourself on a job well-done while you wait and expect more to come. Showing appreciation, speaking positive affirmations and taking the right actions to lead to your goals creates the energetic pattern that attracts more prosperity to your life. You will get exactly what you focus on. So focus on the abundance in your life now and expecting more abundance in your future. Don’t miss out on your prosperity!
This Week’s Happiness Tip: Patience in Your Path
Everything in your life happens at the exact time that it’s supposed to. You have to trust the divine timing of your path and exercise patience for those life-changing moments. Maybe you didn’t get the “dream job” this time, or maybe the love of your life is still making their way to you. Everything happens for a reason, so remember when something you want doesn’t happen, there’s a reason that was not for you at this time and it’s always in your benefit in the end. That just means something better is being orchestrated behind the scenes and you must have faith in your path. I’ve found this to be the case 100% of the time when looking in hindsight. You may not always be able to see it at the moment, but you will. Demonstrating faith, confidence and self-trust is needed to manifest the things you want. If you focus on lacking, that’s exactly what you will get more of. So instead, focus on trusting your path and knowing and expecting greatness, but all in divine timing. If you succeed in these areas, patience will come easier to you and will allow abundance to open itself up to you in ways you’ve never experienced. Patience is key to unlocking the energy patterns of the law of attraction.
This week, check-in with yourself and ask, am I being patient? Do I trust myself and my path? Do I truly expect greatness in my life? If the answer to any of these questions is No, then begin creating affirmations for these and doing some inner work to shift that within your mindset. Always remember, patience, indeed, is a virtue!
This Week’s Happiness Tip: Boost Your Mood
Did you know that having crystals around can help with elevating your mood and emotional well-being? Crystals have been used by reiki masters and healers for centuries to provide protection, healing, guidance and emotional and physical balance in the body. Rose quartz, in particular, is a must-have when dealing with matters of the heart, sadness, or even loss.
Rose quartz is a natural mood-booster that evokes emotional healing properties while promoting vibrations of love and happiness. Keeping a stone close-by at your desk at work, on your body as jewelry or even using during meditation can give you a positive emotional boost. The more you’re around the stone, the stronger you’ll feel its effects over time.
This Week’s Happiness Tip: Rise Like a Phoenix
Have you ever heard the phrase “rise like a phoenix from the ashes?” This pertains to anyone who may be facing adversity or hardships in life that may be difficult to overcome. The Phoenix is a Greek mythological bird representing the transformation of something ending, giving birth to new life. You, too, can become like the Phoenix and rise above any failure, disappointment, or problem that you encounter.
The next time you’re going through a hard time and can’t seem to shake the negative energy, remember to “rise like a phoenix!” Doing a quick affirmation “I always rise like the Phoenix” will allow you to emerge from your negative situation stronger, smarter and more powerful than before. This can serve as a reminder that you are triumphant and can weather any storm in life. There is light at the end of all tunnels, you just have to learn how to find it!
This Week’s Happiness Tip: Cleansing Ritual
Have you ever felt like you were just in a negative space that was hard to overcome? Or maybe, your energy is off and you’re having a hard time rejuvenating it. Cleansing your body of negative energy and emotions can make all the difference. There are many healing properties in natural elements that can positively affect our body for spiritual and emotional rejuvenation.
When you’re feeling off, draw a warm bath surrounded by lit candles. Add to the bath rose petals, sea salt, lemon wedges, and healing stones of your choice. The element of water has natural abilities to calm and balance your emotional energy. Throw in cleansing herbs such as rose petals for positivity, sea salt for strengthening your body’s resistance against negative energy and even a few lemon wedges for all-around cleansing of your energy body. Adding in stones such as rose quartz, clear quartz, smoky quartz, citrine and black or green tourmaline for even more power to this cleansing. As you create this bath, be sure to have the mindful intention of healing, balancing and refreshing yourself. We add fire (candles) because fire magnifies the power of this intention. The heat from the bath adds even more power to the effects of this bath. Soak for at least 30 minutes and allow your emotional and spiritual being to be refreshed! For best results, repeat this process once a month.
*Please practice safety when handling fire.
This Week’s Happiness Tip: Release Your Emotions
Our emotions, whether negative or positive, represent energy that has been manifesting within our bodies. In order for you to live a life of emotional freedom, it’s important to allow your emotions to be released, no matter how uncomfortable it may make you feel. Suppressing your emotions can lead to further internal turmoil which isn’t healthy for you, or those around you. If you’re feeling happy, let that excitement show. If you’re feeling scared, explore the root of that fear by going within. If you’re feeling hurt, don’t be afraid to cry and release your pain. It’s in our nature to react to our feelings, yet often times we’re taught to disregard them in the pursuit of being “strong”. Break yourself from the chains of these limiting belief systems. The strength lies in dealing with them and allowing them to be expressed in a healthy way, not in them being suppressed. 🙏
This Week’s Happiness Tip: The Power of “No”
Have you ever been asked to do something for someone else, and out of the kindness of your heart, you agreed, even though it caused you stress, inconvenience or discomfort? Or maybe it prevented you from getting something done for yourself? Do you do this often? Exercising your right to say “No” is not an act of selfishness, but actually evokes the power of knowing your internal capacity and assessment of your capabilities at any given time. Saying “No” to others is sometimes saying “Yes” to yourself.
The next time you’re asked to do something that doesn’t align with your priorities, beliefs or emotional standing at that moment, exercise the Power of No! While it can be a small word that packs a big punch, not implementing your power to use it can cause physical, emotional and even spiritual discourse. Just because it’s easy to say “Yes,” doesn’t mean that you should. There’s freedom in the Power of No!
This Week’s Happiness Tip: Listen to Your Intuition
We’ve all heard that little voice in our head or that deep feeling that we should be doing something or stop doing something. That little voice in your head is called your intuition and it comes from a much deeper place within yourself and is meant to be the guiding force of your higher self. Listening to it will always lead you to exactly where you should be.
I challenge you to check with yourself internally on a daily or weekly basis and ask yourself how aspects of your life are resonating with your mind, body and soul. Sit with it and really go within. Feel it. Anything that doesn’t feel right from this deeper place should be eliminated to make way for what best serves you. Make this a practice and you will see your life begin to transform!
This Week’s Happiness Tip: Declutter Your Mind
Did you know that the space around you is a direct reflection of what’s going on inside of you? The relationship between your environment and your mental energy is a two-way street, where one can directly affect the other. Sometimes we can allow our physical space to become cluttered and disorganized, which directly affects our mental space. If you’re feeling scattered or ungrounded, put some time into decluttering your environment. You’ll notice that a change will occur in your mental space, which will allow you to become more focused, productive and balanced.
This Week’s Happiness Tip: The Freedom Challenge
Have you ever had the feeling that certain people, places, or things were weighing you down in life like an anchor? Those anchors can be causing you to become distracted from your goals or can even be hurting you in a way that might delay your personal or professional success. Free yourself from the anchors that are weighing you down with, what I call, The Freedom Challenge.
This challenge requires you to take some time to review the people, things and situations in your life and remove/stop/terminate those that no longer serve a positive purpose. The end goal is to free yourself from all things negative and insignificant, thus allowing you to align yourself in more of a position for success and total fulfillment. Do this challenge and let’s see that freedom dance as you conquer your life!
This Week’s Happiness Tip: Put Yourself First!
What do you do for yourself? When was the last time you answered that question? Sometimes we are quick to jump to fulfill the needs of everyone around us but don’t make the same efforts in our own lives.
This week, I encourage you to take action in putting yourself first. Do something nice for yourself this week or do something you’ve been putting off. If you can’t do that this week, then start taking steps to begin doing these things. Whether it be saving money to take a vacation you’ve put off forever, or actually committing to scheduling a class you’ve been meaning to take. Stop putting yourself on hold. The time is NOW!
This Week’s Happiness Tip: Getting Unstuck!
Sometimes we feel like we can’t move forward in life or can’t seem to take action towards our goals. We feel “stuck”. While it may seem like these feelings may last forever, there are steps you can take to get “unstuck” and start moving forward again in happiness.
Take just 10 minutes to listen to the latest episode of my podcast, LifeMastery with Monica Bey, and learn how to get unstuck!
This Week’s Happiness Tip: Self Trust & Gratitude
Can you think of a time when you’ve triumphed through overwhelming odds? This is proof that you can trust yourself to be able to get through anything! Remember that you have personal power and nothing can dominate you, or your spirit, if you don’t allow it to. Keeping your personal power top of mind helps to trust in yourself and reduce the fear of the unknown.
I challenge you to sit in a moment of gratitude for 5 minutes a day in remembrance of your personal power throughout this week and see what new perspectives you begin to develop.
